Body Contouring with Liposuction

April 11, 2010 @ 10:04 PM — by unknown

We've all heard the same thing time and time again. Diet and exercise will give you the perfect body. For many people, it is that simple. But for some, excess fat deposits remain even with a perfect diet and steady exercise. If you have fat deposits that just won't budge no matter how hard you try, liposuction may be right for you.

Procedure Overview

Liposuction can slim down your appearance by removing those excess fat deposits. Liposuction is most often performed on the abdomen, thighs, buttocks, and waist, but can be performed on other parts of the body.

During the liposuction procedure, a cannula (thin tube) is inserted to break up and suction away the unwanted fat deposits. Your plastic surgeon will carefully shape a more defined body contour. No pain is felt during the actual procedure, as the patient is anesthetized prior to the liposuction process.

Recovery and Healing

After having liposuction, it's not uncommon to experience swelling and mild discomfort at the surgical site. This is only temporary and will lessen as your body fully begins to heal, which make take several weeks.

While your body is healing, the surgical site will be bandaged or compressed. Sometimes, small drains may be used to remove excess blood or fluid that may accumulate post-surgery. Your plastic surgeon will schedule follow-up appointments to ensure your body is healing properly. Since everyone heals at a different rate, your doctor will determine when you should be able to resume your daily activities.

If diets and exercise have failed to remove stubborn pockets of fat from your figure, contact our cosmetic surgery center today to learn more abut body contouring with liposuction.
