Also known as blepharoplasty, cosmetic eyelid lift surgery can give eyes a more alert appearance. During the procedure, Dr. Mayl will remove bags and dark circles under the eyes and tighten sagging skin both under the eyes as well as in the upper eye area. Single-stitch Upper Eyelid Surgery

Single-stitch upper eyelid surgery is an effective procedure that eliminates excess skin around the eyes for a more refreshed look. Dr. Mayl uses a single-stitch technique to reduce post-surgical scarring for the most natural-looking results and a shorter recovery period. During single-stitch upper eyelid surgery, Dr. Mayl creates an incision in the natural crease of the upper eyelid. He then removes excess skin from the area in order to lift the lid and then he tightens the underlying muscles. This helps to open up the area and create a livelier appearance. The incisions are then closed using a single absorbable stitch.

Upper Eyelid Fat and Muscle Contouring

Sometimes simply trimming away excess skin is not enough to help patients achieve their desired look. Dr. Mayl also offers upper eyelid fat and muscle contouring to complement single-stitch blepharoplasty surgery. This procedure involves trimming away excess muscle tissue and repositioning and contouring the fat behind the eyelids for a natural-looking and more defined eyelid crease. This is especially helpful for patients who do not have an eyelid crease, typically those of Asian descent. Eyelid fat and muscle contouring can help create an eyelid crease and a rounder eye appearance for these patients.

Translid Brow Surgery

A refreshed upper- eyelid appearance can also be obtained through translid brow surgery at our practice. Dr. Mayl offers both translid browplasty and browpexy to help take the focus off of prominent eyebrows and draw more attention to the eyes. Browplasty is used to smooth the appearance of the eyebrows and reduce lines and wrinkles on the forehead for a softer look. Browpexy helps to create a more symmetrical appearance to uneven eyebrows. Both procedures are performed through an incision made in the crease of the upper eyelid. Browpexy and browplasty also enable Dr. Mayl to eliminate excess skin on the lid that contributes to a tired or depressed appearance and create a distinct eyelid crease for more aesthetically appealing results. Once the procedure is complete, the incision is closed with fine sutures to make scarring less visible.

Endotine™ TransBleph

Cosmetic eyelid lift surgery using the Endotine™ TransBleph is an innovative technique that repositions the brow and elevates the upper eyelid using a small, multipoint soft-tissue fixation device for a younger, more vibrant appearance. The Endotine™ TransBleph is an implant with a unique, three-prong structure that securely holds elevated tissue in place during the healing process and is naturally absorbed by the body. Once healing is complete, patients experience natural-looking results. During this blepharoplasty procedure, Dr. Mayl creates an incision in the crease of the upper eyelid and removes excess skin from the area. Next, he anchors the Endotine™ TransBleph into the orbital bone under the skin. Then, he raises the brow and fixes it into place using the prongs on the fixation device. Finally, he closes the incision with fine sutures to make scarring less evident. The Endotine™ TransBleph can be combined with browlift surgery for optimal results.

Lower Cosmetic Eyelid Lift Surgery

Lower cosmetic eyelid lift surgery is a great way to eliminate the perpetually sad or tired look that results from lines, wrinkles, bags, and dark circles under the eyes. Using his training in a variety of classical blepharoplasty procedures, Dr. Mayl has created a modern twist to help patients achieve natural-looking results with a minimal recovery period.

Transconjunctival Blepharoplasty

For lower cosmetic eyelid lift surgery, Dr. Mayl uses a transconjunctival approach to eliminate the appearance of post-surgical scarring. Transconjunctival blepharoplasty can minimize the appearance of bags, dark circles, wrinkles, and lines under the eyes that contribute to a sad, tired, or angry look. This method involves creating several tiny incisions on the inside of the lower eyelid to remove and reposition fat tissue as well as tighten the lid for a refreshed appearance. After the lid has been recontoured, the incisions are closed with tiny sutures.

Laser Lid Resurfacing and Tightening

In addition to transconjunctival blepharoplasty, Dr. Mayl also offers non-surgical laser lid resurfacing and tightening using the Fraxel® laser or MiXto SX™ CO2 laser to reduce the appearance of bags under the eyes. This procedure can be used on patients who have lower eyelid wrinkling but not excess skin, or it can be used to complement the lower blepharoplasty procedure for dramatic results. When combined with cosmetic eyelid lift surgery, laser skin resurfacing is effective at smoothing out bags under the eyes, static lines, and wrinkles around the eyes for a completely rejuvenated and refreshed appearance. Multiple treatments may be necessary to achieve the desired results.

Mid face lift

Sometimes the best way to eliminate bags under the eyes and restore a smooth, youthful appearance to the lower eyelids is to rejuvenate the area around the nose and cheeks through mid face lift surgery. During the procedure, Dr. Mayl makes an incision on the lower lash line to gain access to the lower eyelid and cheek muscle tissue. He then adjusts the fat and muscle tissue and repositions the middle of the face upward to smooth the skin. A mid face lift not only refreshes the appearance of the eyes, but it can also provide more volume to the cheeks for a more defined profile. For a complete transformation, a mid face lift can be performed with a traditional face lift.

Tear Trough Rejuvenation

Tear trough rejuvenation is an excellent cosmetic eyelid surgery procedure that effectively minimizes the appearance of tear troughs, or the dark circles that appear under the eyes that can make an individual look perpetually tired. Tear trough implants, made of a soft rubber material, can be placed over the bone underneath the eyes to get rid of the shadow or dark circle. Because they are inserted through a transconjunctival incision, the procedure allows for minimal appearance of visible scarring and a quicker recovery time.

Not all patients who have dark circles under their eyes are suitable candidates for this form of blepharoplasty. Restylane® injections provide a much less-invasive alternative to eliminating tear troughs. Restylane® can also sculpt the area around the eyes, cheeks, and midface to add more contour and definition for a completely rejuvenated facial appearance.
