Laser Skin Resurfacing with Fraxel® and MiXto SX™

Dr. Mayl is proud to offer advanced laser skin resurfacing using the Fraxel® laser and MiXto SX™ CO2 laser at his practice. He has been a pioneer in the use of in-office cosmetic lasers, and remains a leading provider of total facial rejuvenation at his private practice in Florida.

Laser skin resurfacing regenerates the skin and reduces the appearance of acne scars, as well as fine lines, wrinkles, discolorations, and other telltale signs of aging. The laser also encourages collagen production, filling fine lines and wrinkles while creating a healthier, more vibrant appearance. This treatment is particularly effective treating fine lines, wrinkles around the eyes, freckles, and sunspots.

Laser skin resurfacing is relatively noninvasive compared to many other types of laser skin enhancement. The laser is used to remove individual layers of damaged skin in a safe and quick in-office procedure for smooth, youthful results. One of the great advantages of laser skin resurfacing using the Fraxel® laser or MiXto SX™ laser is that their unique design allows Dr. Mayl to target smaller, precise areas for enhancement. Laser Tattoo Removal

Laser tattoo removal is an advanced treatment that is designed to completely get rid of an unwanted tattoo without a trace. The laser's energy breaks up tattoo ink into tiny particles that can be absorbed by the skin. Most patients need between six and 12 treatments spread over a period of several months to completely eliminate their tattoo, depending primarily on the tattoo's color. Some patients may need as many as 15 to 20 treatments. This is because most tattoos are made of a variety of colors, and a different laser is needed for each one. The number of laser tattoo removal treatments also depends on the size of the tattoo as well as the type of ink used. However, after all sessions are complete, patients benefit from no scars and no unpigmented areas of the skin. Because laser tattoo removal may cause some discomfort, local anesthesia can be used to eliminate any pain. After laser tattoo removal, patients may experience side effects such as red or tender skin, which should dissipate over the next week.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a non-chemical and non-invasive skin smoothing and polishing technique that is effective not only on the face but also other areas of the body. The treatment uses a spray of microcrystals that gently exfoliate the dull, damaged outer layer of skin, revealing healthy, silky, younger-looking skin underneath. The treatment also promotes the production of collagen and elastin, making skin more resilient. Microdermabrasion can diminish the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and stretch marks caused by sun damage, aging, and weight gain. It can also fade the appearance of shallow surface scars, hyperpigmentation, and discolorations caused by acne, skin trauma, age spots, and other conditions to improve both skin tone and texture. Microdermabrasion is known as a "lunch hour" procedure; each treatment takes about 30 minutes to complete. Patients may experience pinkness of the skin following microdermabrasion treatment, which should disappear within a few hours. Optimal correction is usually achieved after several sessions spread over the course of a few months.

Levulan™ Photodynamic Skin Rejuvenation with IPL™ and Blue Light

Also available at the Mayl Center for Plastic Surgery & Cosmetic Medicine as an alternative to Fraxel® laser skin resurfacing is IPL™, or intense pulse light therapy. Dr. Mayl uses the state-of-the-art Levulan™ photodynamic skin rejuvenation system with IPL™ and blue light to eliminate the appearance of some of the most telltale signs of aging, including facial wrinkles, sun damage, rosacea, acne scars, and other skin discolorations. The Levulan™ system is a painless treatment that takes about 30 minutes to complete. Light emitted from the IPL™ or blue light wand penetrates deep into the skin, causing blood vessels and pores to restrict and skin to tighten, leaving patients with improved skin tone and texture. The mild IPL® procedure is safe for men and women of all ages.

Levulan® with IPL™ and blue light is the newest light based photo-rejuvenation. It simultaneously treats age spots, keratosis, freckles, visible blood vessels, and fine lines. Down time is only two days of sun protection and no other aftercare. This is absolutely the newest skin enhancement technique.

Post-operative Makeovers, Facials, and Skin Care

Our medical esthetician, Luz, provides an extra level of patient convenience at our practice. After patients undergo surgery, Luz ensures they can resume normal activity as soon as possible by offering both pre- and post-operative makeovers and facials. In addition, Luz is the main skin care technician and administers microdermabrasion and exfoliative treatments such as dermaplaning and dermafiling. She also offers an entire line of long-term skin care products to ensure patients get the most longevity out of their plastic surgery procedure.

Permanent Makeup

Permanent makeup is ideal for women who are allergic to regular cosmetics, whose skin is too oily for makeup to stay, or who simply do not have the time to devote to regular makeup application. We are pleased to offer a variety of colors for the eyebrows, lips, and other areas so that you can look beautiful all the time without having to worry about checking or reapplying your makeup. To complete the procedure, a special pigment is gently injected beneath the skin of the targeted area.
